Akash stakers approved moving the protocol from its Cosmos chain to Solana on Nov. 2, authorizing a new AKT token while leaving current staking in place until a later cutover. The vote passed Proposal 346 with 97.27% of votes in favor, according to Akash’s migration announcement.
What does the vote authorize for AKT?
Proposal 346 authorizes AKT to launch as a Solana SPL token after the token and migration portal audits are complete. The proposal expects launch two to three weeks after approval and allows a one-way portal to swap AKT at a 1:1 rate for two years, according to the Proposal 346 record.
The token launch does not move Akash’s compute marketplace or set a date for the chain’s cutover. The proposal says stakers can move their tokens through the portal, with staked AKT subject to a 21-day unbonding period before the tokens arrive on Solana.
When do AKT staking rewards end?
Staking and rewards on akashnet-2 continue for now. The proposal says staking rewards and old-chain inflation end at cutover, which requires a separate governance proposal after audits and migration rehearsals.
The migration plan gives holders a two-year window to transfer AKT once the portal opens. Akash says the exchange is one-way, with migrated tokens arriving as SPL AKT on Solana.
What happens to the old chain after cutover?
Akash’s proposal sets a 90-day wind-down after cutover before the old chain halts. Validator income and the validator role end at that halt, while live leases are scheduled to continue through the wind-down.
The Nov. 2 vote approved the migration plan, not the marketplace’s final move. Akash’s next steps are to complete the audits and announce the token launch; a separate vote will set the cutover.
