Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy announced on Oct. 13 that developers will be able to add programmable XRP Ledger wallets to apps, enabling transfers in XRP, RLUSD and other network assets. The integration also supports AI agents that hold funds and pay for online services, according to Privy’s announcement.
What will Privy wallets let developers build?
Privy’s wallet infrastructure will let developers create and manage XRP Ledger accounts programmatically, sign transactions and build payment features into their products. Users can make payments without managing keys themselves, and Privy says users will be able to export keys or a seed phrase.
Server-side wallets can also let software hold and spend funds through x402, a standard for paying for data and other online services. For example, an agent can authorize payment after receiving a request for paid data, then receive the data once payment is verified, according to CoinDesk’s report on the integration.
What does the 14 million transaction count measure?
The XRPL AI Hub, operated by payment infrastructure developer t54, showed more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions across 169 registered merchants as of Oct. 14, CoinDesk reported. The dashboard recorded about 6,991 XRP and 12,752 RLUSD in cumulative payments, indicating that the transaction count includes many low-value transfers.
Separately, RippleX head of engineering J. Ayo Akinyele said the prior week that the ledger had processed more than 13 million agent payments through x402, or roughly 25% of ledger activity, according to CoinDesk. That figure was attributed to Akinyele, while the 14.3 million total came from the dashboard.
What must happen before an embedded wallet can pay?
A new XRP Ledger account must receive a minimum reserve of 1 XRP before it can transact, including when the user intends to send only RLUSD, CoinDesk reported, citing Privy documentation. That means the account still needs XRP funding to activate.
Privy says the companies plan to deepen the integration with policy controls and gas sponsorship. Those tools are the next announced additions for developers building payment and agent features on the XRP Ledger.
