What to Do When a Crypto Bridge Quote Expires
An expired bridge quote is a stale offer, not proof that funds moved: check wallet activity, then reprice the same transfer before approving anything.

If a bridge quote expires before you submit, check whether your wallet sent a transaction, then request a fresh quote for the same amount. An expired quote means its terms may no longer be valid; it does not, by itself, show that funds moved.
What does an expired bridge quote mean?
A quote is a time-limited offer for a specific transfer, with details such as the route, estimated output, fees and transaction data. Across’s API, for example, returns a quoteExpiryTimestamp for the time the quote expires; its documentation says to get a new quote when that time has passed.
Expiry can protect against submitting old terms after prices, fees or route availability change. For a broader look at route trade-offs, see Biswap’s guide to choosing a cross-chain route; the quote you receive still depends on your tokens, amount and destination.
Should you wait or request a new quote?
Request a new quote if you have not submitted the transaction and still want to make the transfer. Compare the refreshed terms with the expired offer: a route may have changed, and the destination amount or fees may differ.
Waiting makes sense when you want to see whether conditions improve, or when the new offer is worse than the one you saw. The expired quote will not become valid again just because you wait; check the bridge’s interface for a current offer before proceeding.
- Confirm the source and destination networks.
- Check the token and amount on both sides.
- Compare the estimated output and minimum output, if shown.
- Review fees and the route before signing.
What if you already approved or submitted it?
Check your wallet activity before trying again. If you approved a token but did not submit the bridge transaction, the approval may remain on the source chain; an approval is separate from the transfer.
If you submitted a transaction, look up its status using the transaction hash or the bridge’s transfer page. Across’s documentation distinguishes quote expiry from transfer status: once a quote has been accepted, track the transfer rather than treating an old quote as evidence that it failed.
Do not submit a second transfer until you know whether the first one went through. If the source-chain transaction is confirmed but the destination funds have not arrived, use the bridge’s status or support process to check that transfer.
